Aikido and Lineage of Golden Light Aikido Center
Morihei Ueshiba
Founder of Aikido
Developed Aikido as Aiki-budo in pre-war Japan as a spiritual search for the true meaning to the "Code of Bushido" or "Budo". Synthisized Daito-Ryu Jujitsu techniques and Spear fighting with Kenjitsu and "lessons"learned in the Japanese-Russo War to become the "The Way of Divine Harmony" or the art of Peace serving true "budo" or the loving  protectionof all things. This new art stressed the use of KI or life force to control an attack and not simply to destroy an attacker. O'Sensei as he is called promoted one student to the level of 10th Dan, Koichi Tohei.
SOKAKU TAKEDA
Spread the art of DaitoRyu Aikijuitsu across Japan in late 1800's -early 1900's, by teaching the art to others (non-Samurai lineage)  previously excluded from instruction.
This is the source for many Aikido techniques.
