Aikido of Shreveport

Welcome to Aikido of Shreveport
Okuyukashii Dojo

We are a group that seeks to further the art of Aikido as founded by Ueshiba Moreihei. Aikido is a martial art directly rooted in Samurai Bujutsu. Aikido is an Evolution of Samurai Bujutsu as it seeks to define Bushido as the Protection of all things. Aikido is essentially the "internal" art of redirecting power through control of the center of gravity and KI, or energy. We practice specifically to polish the inner person and build fluid strength and balance through KI. Our curriculum includes Aikido Nage waza (throwing techniques), Aiki Osae Waza (pinning and grappling), Atemi Waza (strikes), Ukemi Waza (falling) and the weapons of Tachi Waza, Jo Waza and Tanto Waza (sword, staff and knife). KI is considered to be the combined life force (mind and body acting together) of any individual, not a secret substance, but a common phenomenon that is to be refined. Though the practice of the art we learn about others and ourselves We are in Direct lineage of O'Sensei Founder of Aikido, please see our lineagee chart above. We teach from the KI rooted Systems of Aikido: Historically our system stems from: IAA, prior to that, Seidokan and prior to that Ki Society. William Ross received his Nidan from Lynn Fabia of SAC and is also a member of AAA, Aikido Association of America, which is associated with Aikikai in Japan.
